Clínica Bilbao, members of the PADI program
Our clinic is a member of the Osakidetza PADI (Children's Dental Care Program), promoted by the Department of Health and Consumption of the Basque Government.
What does PADI cover?
The program includes an annual check-up of the teeth, preventive advice and any necessary treatments (sealing of fissures, filling of cavities and trauma to the permanent dentition). The only thing that is not included is the treatment of milk teeth and orthodontic treatment.
Joining the PADI program is very simple. All you have to do is request an appointment(you can request your appointment by clicking here), and bring your acceptance slip and your Osakidetza card to the consultation.
If you have any questions or need more information, you can download the information brochure for parents(click here to download) or the information brochure for children(click here to download), which contain all the necessary information.
What is PADI?
PADI is the Children's Dental Care Program created by the Basque Government Health Department and Osakidetza.
What ages does it cover?
The PADI guarantees free dental care to all children in the Basque Autonomous Community from 7 to 15 years of age.
It is important to emphasize that although the free Children's Dental Care Program begins at age 7, dental checkups should begin approximately six months after the first teeth appear (1 - 2 years).

PEDIATRIC DENTISTRY TREATMENTS
Our treatments
Fillings
A dental filling consists of the restoration of a tooth that has been damaged by dental caries (this is known as a dental filling). By using this technique we are able to eliminate the caries and recover the functionality of the damaged tooth.
Root canal treatment
Root canal treatment is a safe and effective way to stop many kinds of pain, and to prevent tooth loss from decay or injury. It is necessary when the decay has reached such a depth that it affects the nerve or pulp of the tooth.
Depending on the depth of the caries and the degree of nerve involvement, the primary teeth will be subjected to:
- Pulpotomies
- Pulpectomies
Dental trauma
In case of dental trauma, it is advisable to visit the dental office as soon as possible, especially if the affected tooth is permanent. Dental treatments differ whether the teeth involved are temporary or permanent.
If the trauma occurs in baby teeth, reimplantation will not be performed, but it is advisable to treat it as soon as possible to avoid infections.
If, on the other hand, the trauma occurs in permanent teeth, it is essential to reimplant it as soon as possible after careful cleaning with water. In addition, in order to ensure the survival of the tooth to a greater extent, it is recommended to go to the clinic as soon as possible, to the dentist's office, with the tooth inserted in a small glass of milk.
Fluoridation
Although fluoridation is a technique indicated to protect teeth at any age, it is especially relevant in the field of pediatric dentistry, since the teeth of the youngest children are still in formation.
Fluoride has multiple beneficial effects, including increased enamel strength, its antibacterial action and its contribution to tooth remineralization.
Orthodontics
At the earliest ages, below 10 years of age, it is possible to detect dental malposition or malocclusion. In such cases it is advisable to submit the child to orthodontic treatment. At Clínica Bilbao we have a wide range of options in children's orthodontics, including clear aligners(Click here for more information).
Prevention
Early prevention guarantees the preservation of primary teeth until tooth replacement. This conservation is essential to preserve the space where the permanent teeth will erupt and to guarantee the correct development of the jaws.
Leave your children's oral health in our hands
More than 25 years of experience and the satisfaction of thousands of patients endorse the work we carry out at Clínica Bilbao.
